Current Mission Operations
- During the anniversary week (Sol 4975-4981), the rover operated at a tilt of 24 degrees while climbing Mount Sharp.
- Key science activities include:
- APXS measurements: Targeting "Tunas Khasa," "Villarrica," "Salar de Gorbea," and "Uriondo."
- ChemCam analysis: Examining targets "Lago Rupanco," "Chulipa Punta," "Rio Tranquilo" (nodular rock), and "Rio Juncalito" (cross-bedded rock).
- MAHLI imagery: Acquiring a large mosaic of the "Tres Morros" target to study rock layer intersections.
- Mastcam imaging: Documenting "La Linea," "Tiraque," "Laguna Del Eulogio," and "Laguna de Pozuelo" to understand stratigraphy near the Mishe Mokwa butte.
Maintenance and Environmental Monitoring
- The team performed housekeeping, including SAM column cleaning and MAHLI imaging of the REM UV sensor.
- The rover continues environmental monitoring through dust-devil surveys, atmospheric opacity measurements, and radiation monitoring via the RAD instrument, which has been active since the mission's launch phase.
