Albania to Join Artemis Accords in Signing Ceremony

- Albania is set to become the 73rd signatory to the Artemis Accords.
- The official signing ceremony will take place on Monday, Sept. 21, at 12 p.m. EDT at NASA Headquarters in Washington.

- The ceremony will be hosted by NASA Deputy Administrator Matt Anderson.
- Representatives from the Republic of Albania include Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ferit Hoxha and U.S. Ambassador Ervin Bushati.
- Representatives from the U.S. Department of State will also be in attendance.
Background of the Accords
- Established in 2020 during the first Trump Administration by the U.S. and seven founding nations.
- The initiative provides a framework of practical principles to enhance safety, transparency, and coordination for civil space exploration on the Moon, Mars, and beyond.
- The Accords were developed to address the rising interest in lunar activities among international governments and private sector entities.
