APC Prepares for 2026 Team CommUNITY Global Gathering in Portugal

• The 2026 Team CommUNITY Global Gathering will take place from September 4–6 in Estoril, Portugal.
• APC will host a central booth and lead multiple sessions focusing on human rights, technology, and digital rights defense.
• The event features a community-driven model with regional villages, project demonstrations, and skill-sharing workshops.

Event Focus

• The gathering serves as a forum for digital rights defenders to address technology-related challenges affecting human rights, social justice, and journalism.
• Themes include free/libre and open-source software (FLOSS), community-centered connectivity, and security infrastructure.

APC Schedule Highlights

• Day 1 (Sept 4): Focus on the NGI0 ecosystem, Global Information Society Watch (GISWatch), community-centered connectivity, and operations as security infrastructure.
• Day 2 (Sept 5): Discussions on local services, collaborative software stacks, AI ethics in civil society organizations (CSOs), and the WRP/FIRN ecosystem.
• Day 3 (Sept 6): Sessions on partnerships, building FLOSS in late-stage capitalism, and concluding celebrations.
