UNIQLO Philippines Collaborates with NCCA Artisans for Japan-Philippines Friendship Anniversary

• UNIQLO Philippines is partnering with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) to release artisanal patches in celebration of the 70th anniversary of Japan-Philippines friendship.
• Master artisans from the Itneg, Panay Bukidnon, and T’boli communities created the patches using upcycled UNIQLO fabric scraps.
• The initiative aims to support sustainable livelihoods and preserve traditional cultural skills through the NCCA’s Schools of Living Traditions (SLT) program.
• The collection is available at select UNIQLO stores from July 29 to October 31, 2026.

Participating Indigenous Communities

• Itneg (Abra): Known for handwoven textiles and embroidery featuring distinctive geometric patterns.
• Panay Bukidnon (Iloilo): Practicing panubok, a traditional form of intricate hand embroidery.
• T’boli (Lake Sebu): Renowned for t’nalak weaving and traditional embroidery techniques.

Project Context and Availability

• The collaboration was spearheaded by creative art director Wilson Limon.
• Participating stores include the Manila Global Flagship Store, SM Mall of Asia, Bonifacio High Street, SM North EDSA, SM Megamall, Greenhills, Nuvali, Ayala Center Cebu, SM Seaside City Cebu, SM Davao, Davao Roadside Store, and SM Lanang Premier.
• The project serves as an extension of the NCCA’s mandate to safeguard cultural heritage by fostering knowledge transfer between cultural masters and younger generations.
