Investment Roadmap
- The 2026–27 fiscal year includes an allocation of Tk 32,691.54 crore, representing 10.9% of the national development budget.
- Planned funding scale:
- FY 2027–28: Tk 38,684 crore
- FY 2028–29: Tk 42,552 crore
- FY 2029–30: Tk 46,807 crore
Strategic Priorities and Infrastructure
- The government is prioritizing six strategic pillars: affordable/reliable power, a balanced energy mix, renewable energy scaling, grid modernization, technological upgrades (SCADA/smart-grids), and loss reduction.
- Major flagship projects include:
- Matarbari coal-fired power plant
- Rupsha gas-fired power plant
- Ghorashal power plant
- Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant
Pipeline and Energy Security
- The current pipeline contains 47 new projects, including 11 power generation, 2 transmission, 10 distribution, 21 energy-related, and 3 mineral resource exploration schemes.
- Efforts to enhance energy independence involve intensified domestic gas exploration through seismic surveys and the construction of Unit 2 of the Eastern Refinery to improve local fuel processing capabilities.
